Solidarity Tour to Peru 2025
In the summer of 2025, Ernesto joined a Solidarity Tour to Peru with Development and Peace – Caritas Canada, a journey that forever changed how I see global justice and community resilience. From the vibrant neighbourhoods of Lima, the high mountains of the Andes, to the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, I met extraordinary people defending their land, water, and dignity in the face of powerful extractive forces.
Our partners — from the Instituto Bartolomé de las Casas to Centro Amazónico de Antropología y Aplicación Practica (CAAAP) and the Vicariate of Water — are living proof that faith in action can transform communities. Their courage and hope remind us that solidarity is not about charity, but about walking together toward justice.
This experience strengthened my belief that small acts of awareness and compassion can ripple across borders — and that together, we can build a more humane, sustainable world.
